Liver Cancer
- Liver cancer, also known as hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), originates in the cells of the liver.
- It often arises in the setting of chronic liver diseases, such as cirrhosis.

Causes
- Chronic Viral Hepatitis: Long-term infection with hepatitis B or C increases the risk.
- Cirrhosis: Scarring of the liver tissue, commonly caused by chronic alcoholism or viral hepatitis.
- Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD): Accumulation of fat in the liver.
- Aflatoxins: Toxins produced by certain molds found in peanuts, corn, and other crops.
- Alcohol Consumption: Excessive and prolonged alcohol intake is a significant risk factor.
Signs & Symptoms
- Abdominal Pain: Discomfort or pain in the upper abdomen.
- Unexplained Weight Loss: Significant weight loss without an apparent cause.
- Jaundice: Yellowing of the skin and eyes.
