Gastric Cancer

  • Gastric cancer, also known as stomach cancer, begins in the lining of the stomach.
  • It is a relatively common cancer, but its incidence varies globally.
  • Early detection is challenging as symptoms may not manifest until the disease has progressed.

  2. Age: The risk of gastric cancer increases with age.
  3. Gender: Men are more prone to developing gastric cancer.
  4. Dietary Factors: Diets high in smoked, pickled, or salted foods may elevate risk.
  5. Family History: A history of gastric cancer in close relatives increases susceptibility.

Signs & Symptoms

  1. Indigestion or Heartburn: Persistent discomfort in the upper abdomen.
  2. Unexplained Weight Loss: Significant weight loss without an apparent cause.
  3. Abdominal Pain: Pain or discomfort in the stomach area.
  4. Nausea and Vomiting: Especially persistent or severe.
  5. Difficulty Swallowing: Dysphagia or a feeling of fullness after eating small amounts.
